"Make sure its is YOU who wants to do it, not someone else or because of some other pressure."
Santino Luzuriaga is a purple belt from Solas Jiujitsu, training under Meggie Ochoa for the past nine years. From the start, he was all-in—never even owning a white belt before earning his first, a grey-white belt. His most memorable achievement so far has been winning gold at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam, a milestone that fuels his goal to earn medals in the adult division and eventually compete in the SEA Games and Asian Games.
Santino has built an impressive competition record, securing gold at the 2024 National Team Trials (Adults Gi) and the 2024 AJP Abu Dhabi Grand Slam. He has also earned silver and bronze medals at other prestigious competitions, including the Youth World Championship, IBJJF Houston Open, and National Team Trials. His training routine is intense, balancing drilling, sparring, strength & conditioning, and recovery to ensure he’s always improving. While most of his time is dedicated to BJJ, he also enjoys learning about business and success strategies.
He first heard about Hyperfly through Coach Meggie and was drawn to its clean designs and strong philosophy. The "You Can't Teach Heart" mantra resonates deeply with him, as he believes growth and change must come from within. His advice to beginners: "Make sure its is YOU who wants to do it, not someone else or because of some other pressure. If you do that you'll enjoy the process for sure, it gets hard but since YOU wanted to do this Im sure youll stick it out and go far "
