Meggie Ochoa

Black Belt Solas Jiu-Jitsu

"I truly believe that in everything, we must always give our best."

This personal mantra defines Meggie Ochoa, a trailblazer in Philippine Jiu-Jitsu and a seasoned Black Belt based in San Juan City. With 13 years of training and guidance from throughout her journey from world-class coaches like Ralph Go, Carlo Pena, Hansel Co, Ali Sulit, Allan Co, and Stephen Kamphuis, Meggie has become a cornerstone of the sport in her country. She represents Solas Jiu-Jitsu and coaches the youth national team with a mission that goes beyond the podium: she aims to level up Philippine Jiu-Jitsu by fostering a growth-focused mindset and establishing a world-class youth development program and encouraging an environment where even the most vulnerable can thrive.

Meggie’s competitive resume is historic. She is a 2x JJIF World Champion, a 3x IBJJF World Champion (at lower belts), and a multi-time Gold Medalist at the SEA Games, Asian Beach Games, and AIMAG. Perhaps her most defining moment was winning Gold at the Asian Games. It was a victory of pure heart—she competed while sick and fought through the finals with an injury sustained in the semis, proving that resilience often matters more than physical perfection.

Meggie’s relationship with Hyperfly dates back to 2014, when she was introduced to the brand at the IBJJF Worlds as a white belt. She values the durability and the specific fit of the female cuts, but it is the philosophy that truly resonates with her. She aligns deeply with You Can’t Teach Heart, viewing it as an extension of her faith. "I truly believe that in everything, we must always give our best," she explains. "The journey to the result and what you do with it is what makes you a true champion."

Off the mats, Meggie is a woman of discipline and unexpected talent—she enjoys studying scripture and possesses the unique party trick of being able to speak backwards.  Her advice to aspiring martial artists is grounded in her own experience: "Consistency is key. Not everyone will progress at the same rate, but as long as you stay consistent and keep putting in the work, you will keep on growing."
