"I kept training and competing because my heart wanted jiujitsu - there was no need for anyone or anything else to fuel the fire β€οΈβπ₯"
Danica Anne Torres has been training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for nine years, under the mentorship of Mark Entrata, Ram Morales, and James Jayme. Representing Cobrinha Manila and Alliance, she has honed her skills and developed a strong competitive mindset. To stay mentally and physically prepared for competitions, she listens to books and studies techniques to maintain her focus.
Over the years, Danica has proven herself as a formidable competitor. She claimed gold in the Pan Asian 2022 Feather division, showcasing her technical mastery and determination. In 2023, she continued her winning streak with double gold at the Manila International Open, securing first place in both the Feather and Absolute divisions. In 2024, she triumphed in a highly anticipated match at the ART 4 Philippines Superfight, winning in the U54kg division, and later added another gold in the Absolute division of the Manila International Open.
Danica first discovered Hyperfly in 2018 through social media, inspired by Anna Rodriguez's endorsement. What she loves most about Hyperfly gear is its clean aesthetic, great fit for female athletes, and top-tier quality. She aligns with the You Canβt Teach Heart philosophy as she has faced and overcome numerous struggles in her Jiu-Jitsu journey. A fun fact about Danica is that she enjoys wrestling, despite often pulling guard in competitions. Her advice to beginners in martial arts is to take things slow and focus on fundamentals like grips, positioning, and control before moving into advanced techniques.
