Grey Black Belt
Atos Philippines, Atos Fortified
"Just keep rolling."
That’s the mindset of 13-year-old Caleb Balanzat, a relentless force in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Born and raised in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Caleb started training at six years old, took a short break, and came back stronger than ever. Now a Grey Black Belt, he trains under the guidance of Joaquin Dy, Bryan Dy, Luigi Ladera, and Jayar Reintegrado at Atos Philippines and Atos Fortified. His journey is all about resilience, constantly evolving his game and taking on new challenges. One of his proudest moments was stepping back onto the competition mats after his break, proving to himself that he still had what it takes to win.
Caleb’s return to competition has been nothing short of impressive. Among his most notable achievements, he captured gold at the Tokyo International Open 2023 in Japan, marking a major milestone on the international stage. He also secured gold at the Pan Asians 2024 in Manila, demonstrating his dominance in the 60kg open belt Teen BJJFP division. He also stood atop the podium at Copa de Dumau De Jiu Jitsu 2024 and Batang Pinoy 2024, proving his consistency in both national and international circuits. Additionally, he took silver at the Asian Regional Championship Southeast Asia 2024 in Bali, Indonesia, showcasing his ability to compete against top-level athletes beyond the Philippines.
Caleb first discovered Hyperfly when he saw Meggie Ochoa, a Hyperfly HQ athlete, wearing it. Inspired by the brand’s lightweight, high-performance gear, he knew it was something he wanted to be part of. “It feels great, and I love how it moves with me,” he says. But more than the gear, he connects with Hyperfly’s philosophy of You Can’t Teach Heart. He lives by it, proving that success isn’t about natural talent—it’s about grit, dedication, and the willingness to keep pushing forward.
Off the mats, Caleb is known for his serious demeanor but is a comedian at heart among his family and friends. When it’s time to train, he’s all business. His advice for anyone starting their BJJ journey? “Just keep rolling.” Caleb’s journey is just beginning, and with his determination, the future looks bright.
