"You can’t teach heart, it’s something you have to experience yourself. Get through those hard times where nothing goes your way and persevere to overcome whatever challenge"
With 16 years of dedication to Jiu-Jitsu, Myron Mangubat is a Black Belt and a formidable presence on the mats. Representing Carpe Diem in Manila, Myron’s commitment to the sport is absolute. "I burned the boats, no where else to go," he says, a testament to his unwavering focus, which is fueled by a genuine love for the art. For Myron, pride comes not from a single moment but from the consistent ability to execute what he drills and teaches in the high-pressure environment of competition. His journey is defined by relentless dedication and a passion for sharing his knowledge.
Myron’s career is highlighted by significant achievements on both the national and international stages. He earned a bronze medal at the SEA Games and was crowned champion at the National Trials, proving his capability to perform under pressure. His short-term goals are set on capturing gold at the upcoming SEA Games and Asian Games, while his long-term vision is simple yet profound: to stay healthy and continue training, coaching, and competing for as long as possible.
Myron first discovered Hyperfly through its reputation for quality and design, noting, "I have a Hyperfly bag that I have been using for years." The brand's durability and style resonated with him, but his deeper connection lies with its core philosophy. He feels aligned with "You Can't Teach Heart" because he believes it’s an internal quality forged through adversity. For him, it’s about navigating the tough times when nothing goes your way and finding the strength to persevere and overcome any obstacle.
Off the mats, Myron’s life revolves around his passion. His daily routine consists of two training sessions, weight lifting, and coaching the next generation in the kids' classes. His advice for anyone starting their Jiu-Jitsu journey is to “Have fun and enjoy the journey. You will get better as long as you are consistent.” Myron's story is one of pure dedication, showcasing a life committed to the art of Jiu-Jitsu.
