Aliyah "AJ" Salamillas is a 12 year old grey belt training out of team Kalilayan jiu jitsu, powered by Carpe Diem Manila. She seeks to be a lifelong learner not only on the mats, but in life. Her journey is supported by 3 pillars, discipline, patience, and confidence. 

AJ was introduced to jiu jitsu along with her big sister Bella as a 7-year-old, often sparring in their family's living room. Jiu jitsu was a fun family activity that eventually blossomed into a passion, helping her realize that discipline is a skill that is useful in every aspect of her life. The sisters have truly adopted the work ethic to be able to one day reach the highest levels of competition. Curiosity sparked the desire to try out the sport, and they both haven't looked back since. The sisters have been competing since they were 11 and 9 years old, building upon their love for jiu jitsu and turning their focus to being more competitive. 

AJ aims to focus on supporting her teammates as much as possible, representing Hyperfly Ph, and continuing her personal development on and off the mats with the help of her family and training partners.

Like her sister, AJ was drawn to Hyperfly Philippines as she connected with the brands identity. The You Can't Teach Heart slogan reminds her to work hard, stay humble, and continue to seek knowledge.
